The Earth’s atmosphere is around 5×10^18 metric tons, or 5E18, give or take water vapor. The industrial output of the US in 2008 could be estimated to be around 8 billions tons. Let’s call it 10 billion. I saw another figure that the U.S. is responsible for 17% of all emissions worldwide. Lets call it 15%. So the total worldwide output of greenhouse gases is around 58.8 billion tons. Lets call it 60 billion.
60 billions tons of greenhouse gases amount to 1/83millionth of the atmosphere (5E18/6E10). To visualize this a little better, an Olympic swimming pool is 660,000 gallons. Our contribution to the “swimming pool” is 1.01 ounces per year. Despite my global-warming-alarmist-friendly numbers, rounding up every number along the way in their favor, we are contributing 1 ounce to an Olympic swimming pool (most community swimming pools are about 1/6th the size of an Olympic pool). What a joke. Al, your propaganda days are growing shorter.
Admittedly not previously posted, I have been hoping that Al Gore would run at the last second and steal the nomination from Hillary/Barack, because then the fence-sitting republicans would be FORCED to take out the Global Warming Crisis issue. They choose their battles, and as of right now they’re not willing to put forth the political capital to bury the issue. They WILL be willing to if it means an easy route to the White House in ‘08. Gore’s global warming swindle would be ended by rational debate, and he would be a laughing stock for centuries. Rush Limbaugh pointed out today that Gore will NOT run because it would force him to debate the issue, and he refuses to. His arguments can’t stand up to debate, and he won’t risk his “manbearpig” being laughed at.

- The debate is NOT over. Gore and others claim the debate is over due to a “consensus” of scientists. “The scientific consensus is clearly expressed in the reports of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).” (Naomi Oreskes, Washington Post) Ignoring the glaring “GOVERNMENTAL” part of the panel, the report is said to be a consensus of scientists because of the thousands of scientists names on the report. The problem is THEY DIDN’T SIGN IT. They were simply existing members of the “panel” and so their names were attached. Many scientists protested saying they didnt agree, and were ignored. Many left the “panel” and one sued to have his name removed. Oh, and the 3,000 panel members aren’t all scientists. Many are political appointees.
- Warming CAUSES the rise in CO2. Al Gore’s movie simply shows the correlation and implies that CO2 is the cause of the warming. His own graph shows that the CO2 follows the temperature 100 years later.
- The correlation between earth temperature and SUN ACTIVITY is stronger than the correlation between earth temperature and CO2 levels.

- CO2 levels were more than 10 TIMES what they are now during an ice age that caused mass extinction. Gore’s movie only covers the last 650,000 years. Junkscience.com - “Given that the late Ordovician suffered an ice age (with associated mass extinction) while atmospheric CO2 levels were more than 4,000ppm higher than those of today (yes, that’s a full order of magnitude higher), levels at which current ‘guesstimations’ of climate sensitivity to atmospheric CO2 suggest every last skerrick of ice should have been melted off the planet, we admit significant scepticism over simplistic claims of small increment in atmospheric CO2 equating to toasted planet.”
- The IPCC put all their scientist-members’ signatures on their report, and many of the scientists resigned when the Intergovernmental panel refused to remove their names.

I’ve heard all the arguments about how global warming is our fault and the rebuttals that pretty much show its nonsense for many reasons, one being water vapor is totally ignored in Gore’s analysis of the issue.

Why isn’t this shown to the world DAILY?!?! During the Late Ordovician, there was an ice age, and the CO2 levels were more than 4000ppm higher than today’s levels of just under 400ppm. I could not find any dispute of this fact anywhere. “Green is universal” and “its not politics, it’s right and wrong” are empty statements that are said by people who have no concern or desire to learn the facts of global CO2 levels over history. It’s an absolute travesty that anyone would take the global warming alarmists seriously with such evidence out there UNDISPUTED.

Only a liberal would be convinced of the danger of global warming, but unconvinced of the danger of terrorism.
Global warming cannot be confirmed by the scientific method which requires the elimination of plausible alternatives. “All hypotheses and theories are in principle subject to disproof. Thus, there is a point at which there might be a consensus about a particular hypothesis or theory, yet it must in principle remain tentative.” The global threat of terrorism, mainly from Muslim extremism is certainly more confirmable since they have no desire in hiding their goals! They have told you they will kill you for not being Muslim. Why are you so able to believe in global warming but not in the imminent threat of terrorism? Simple, you’re not interested in the truth if it isn’t what you expected.
While visiting Southern California on Thursday, President Bush promised to give federal aid to the region for uninsured losses. While compassion and pity are admirable qualities, this action would basically inform anyone who had the prescience and self-reliance to purchase their own insurance that they are suckers. Telling people that were responsible enough to plan for such a disaster, and spent money year after year after year to insure their home and personal property that they wasted their money is much worse than the loss suffered by those who were not prepared. It is a terrible and unacceptable message to send to the people of California and the rest of the nation. It is another possible attack on the American principle of self-reliance and removes incentive to act properly.
Natural disasters are tragedies and very often unpredictable, but many areas throughout the country and the world are obviously succeptable to specific disasters, and the people of those regions are responsible for preparing for them. If someone builds their house on a steep hill, and a landslide destroys their home, its not MY responsibility. I made my home in a safer place, and I should be rewarded for that. People in Florida should obtain insurance for hurricanes, many Kansans should insure against Tornados, and San Franciscans need protection against earthquakes. The federal government should not insure EVERYTHING for many reasons. Iowans should not have to retrofit their structures for earthquakes; it would be a colossal waste of money because they don’t have earthquakes frequently enough to warrant it. They should also not have to pay for earthquake damage in other states. It’s not their responsibility
Building a city with several areas below sea level near an ocean is just plain stupid. I do not believe people should be prevented from settling in these areas, but if they choose to live there, they should be responsible for the consequences. Not me. If someone leaves food out in their house with the windows open in an area known to be inhabitated by many bears, its their fault and responsibility to either fix the damage or to insure it. Not mine. We have figured this logic out in so many areas. No rational person would ever claim that the widow of a man without life insurance should receive the equivalent of her late husband’s salary for the rest of her life unless they had an insurance policy. Reimbursement policies like that would OBVIOUSLY bankrupt the country over time. No one would ever apply for life insurance, and claims would flood the federal government.
Of course many of the Californians may have been unaware of the risk of fire in their area, due to the high concentration of houses as well as some residents’ ignorant objection to controlled fires to reduce risk and the high velocity Santa Anna winds at this time of year, but their ignorance cannot be rewarded while those that weren’t ignorant are essentially punished for years of good behavior and judgment.
